The Short Story: A Joseph Edwards signature, the Contemporary Short Film
artfully weaves together the elements of the day in a short piece with magnetic
effect and powerful emotional resonance. Taking creative license with the
order of events, we blend evocative moments and poignant expressions of the
celebration with dynamic, avant-garde imagery of the couple that captures
their special uniqueness in various settings – to produce a vibrant cinematic
fusion that is as moving as it is electric. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes
in length, our Contemporary Short Film has greater impact than a longer film,
while the latest production equipment creates a genuine cinematic look and
feel. Optional Super 8 or 8-mm can add a nostalgic, retro element to the
finished product, which is often an eclectic mix of diverse styles that tell
the story of the event and couple in an imaginative and original way. And
so as not to sacrifice a comprehensive wedding memento for art, clients who
request a Contemporary Short Film also receive a full-length two-hour film
of carefully edited video that includes the entire ceremony, along with speeches,
toasts, dancing and highlights from the cocktail, reception and after party.

The Epic Love Story: A client favorite,
the Joseph Edwards Nostalgic Feature Film is a vibrant 45 to 60 minute cinematic
experience that provides a wonderfully dynamic vehicle for telling the couple’s
story. A fluid expression of sound, motion and color, the Feature Film incorporates
more content than our Short Film, detailing the sequential flow of events
with dramatic movement and seamless, artful editing. An array of film styles
can create a feel and effect that is the most authentic expression of the
bride and groom, but most of our Feature Film clients opt for Super 8 filming,
which infuses the film with an incomparably romantic “vintage feel” and a
deeper emotional intensity. Fuller speeches and longer excerpts from the
ceremony are included, which allow for a wider chronicling of the event within
this exquisite cinematic framework.

The Story of Us: Eloquent and expressive,
our Life Story Film can be featured at a rehearsal dinner, used as an chic,
engaging backdrop during the wedding cocktail or reception or simply taken
home as a cherished, one-of-a-kind keepsake. We do plenty of off-site homework
for this one…..becoming avid journalists as we seek to tell the couple’s
personal story and capture their joy though many different eyes! We ask questions
and record opinions and reactions, interview the bride, groom, parents, siblings
and close chosen friends, chronicling vivid character descriptions and quirky,
heartfelt expressions. Blending in poignantly crafted video of the couple
shot at another location to enhance the story, our Life Story Film can be
produced in a wide range of styles, from edgy minimalist, to journalistic,
to romantic with a twist of comic, even to "art house" vogue. For added effect,
photos and video of the bride and groom with family and friends throughout
their lives are also incorporated into the finished product.

The Simply Fabulous Story: Our clients’
love the latest cinematic wedding accessory – the Aftershoot! Before the
wedding - or in the relaxed glow of the morning after - we take the couple
to a location of their choice for a few hours and have a creative filming
extravaganza that can be sexy, edgy, fun, romantic…..whatever best suits
our clients’ individual styles. We aim for playful, spontaneous expression
but concepts are brainstormed in advance – and the sky is the limit! Whether
in a bridal gown and tux with sneakers on back of a motorcycle or playing
Frisbee in the park, frolicking in the ocean in a top hat and veil, channeling
Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck on an antique couch with wine and pizza,
or dancing barefoot under the stars in tee shirts and pajama bottoms, the
Aftershoot film is a unique expression of the couple’s love… and a riveting,
unforgettable cinematic memento.
